Customize & fix your tag kit

To shorten the tail:  When using the tags on small neck jars the rest of the cord may get in the way.  So you may adjust your cord length.  Just re-tie the knot to where you want it.  Then cut excess with scissors.  To keep freshly cut ends from fraying, use lighter to melt the ends (caution use one wipe of the flame, or too much sleeve may melt away).

Oops... wooden bead came off!  Use a twist tie or a hair pin, loop around the cord, and thread the bead onto twist tie or hair pin and pull bead back onto cord.  Easy Peasy.

Marker won't write:  The makers that we source have been chosen from a large pool of markers.  We really like these.  But occasionally, the cap stays off too long or the tip gets a little wet so we have figured out a simple solution.  Try writing on paper or cardboard,  something absorbent and a little rough, this seems to open the pores of the felt-tip to get the ink flowing again.    If it's just plain dead, out of the box, give us an email and we'll take care of you.  Zegghead is building a solid reputation of great customer smiles and won't leave you hanging.

Wiping leaves shadows or witness lines:  Use a fresh bottle of rubbing alcohol with a minimum of 70% (the tags clean easier with 90%), make sure tag is dry,  no moisture, no water,  then use a tissue, paper towel or toilet paper moistened with the alcohol and apply & very slowly wipe.  It takes a few seconds for the dyes & inks to absorb the alcohol and lift off the hard surface of the plastic.  Always wipe using a clean corner of the tissue never reuse the same part of the tissue.  And did I mention keep it dry.  A bottle of 70% Rubbing Alcohol also has 30% water to make up 100% of the bottle.  So after wiping the first time, dry off the whole area, because the alcohol evaporates quickly and leaves behind a thin film or beads of water.   Blow on it to evaporate the water and try again.

Organizing the kit:  Pick a drawer that you want them stored in and use a sandwich bag to keep them contained.  Some have used an egg carton to keep the tags separate.  Other users have used a 3M Command hook on the side of the fridge to hang them on and then store the marker, alcohol and a tissue in a drawer close by.    Currently we are testing several prototypes of base stations magnetically mounted on the fridge to hold all items.  Depending on our results, we'll possibly offer a solution soon.
